Among motorcycle lovers in Bangladesh, the Thailand brand ‘GPX’ is now quite well-known. Especially in the sports segment, they have created a distinct position for themselves by offering premium looks and performance within a low budget. Recently, they have brought to the market the GPX Demon GR165RR - RACING GRAY, which is much more advanced and powerful compared to its predecessors. In particular, its "Racing Gray" color variant has caught the eye of the young generation of bikers. A detailed feature review of this bike is presented below:
Design and Color Scheme
The biggest strength of the GPX Demon GR165RR is its design. At first glance, anyone might mistake it for an Italian superbike. Its design is primarily modeled after the Ducati Panigale.
The "Racing Gray" edition is extremely elegant and royal. Red and black stripes over the gray color give the bike a pure sports look. The bike's front fairing is very sharp and aggressive. The dual-pit LED headlamp and the unique-shaped LED DRL (Daytime Running Light) above it give it a monstrous appearance from the front. Seen from the side profile, its muscular fuel tank and split seat setup give it the feel of a compact track bike. Its aerodynamic body kit helps greatly in cutting through the wind at high speeds.
Dimension and Build
The bike stands on a strong Trellis Frame, which is usually seen in high-performance sports bikes. Besides keeping the bike light, it provides great stability during cornering.
The bike's length is 2020 mm, width 747 mm, and height 1145 mm. Its ground clearance is 159 mm, which is quite satisfactory considering the speed breakers in Bangladesh. However, its seat height is 815 mm, which is somewhat high. As a result, controlling the bike might be a bit challenging for riders below 5 feet 6 inches. The bike weighs 155 kg, which helps in managing wind blasts on the highway and keeping the bike gripped to the road at high speeds. Its fuel tank capacity is 11 liters, which is sufficient for long tours.
Engine and Performance
GPX has brought a big change to the engine segment this time. It uses a 164.6 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, SOHC 4-valve engine. The previous model was 2-valve, but due to this 4-valve technology, the bike's performance is now much smoother.
This engine is capable of generating a maximum of 19.2 BHP power at 10,500 RPM and 15.0 NM torque at 7,500 RPM. Its power delivery is quite linear and the throttle response is excellent. The engine utilizes advanced Delphi Fuel Injection (FI) technology, which ensures fuel efficiency. Due to the 6-speed gearbox, it can easily touch a top speed of 135-140 km per hour on the highway. Its 4-valve technology plays a special role in reducing engine vibration at high RPM.
Tyre and Wheel
Tyre grip is extremely important for a sports bike. 17-inch alloy wheels are used in the GPX Demon GR165RR. It features a 100/80-17 size tyre at the front and a 140/70-17 size wide radial tubeless tyre at the rear. The 140-section rear tyre, along with giving the bike a heavy look, adds extra confidence to the rider during cornering and high-speed braking.
Suspension
Its suspension setup is quite premium for riding comfort and controlling. Upside Down (USD) suspension with a golden color finish is provided at the front. It is not only beautiful to look at but can also absorb the shocks from road potholes or waves quite well. A 7-step adjustable monoshock suspension from the YSS brand is provided at the rear. If desired, the rider can manually adjust it according to their weight and the type of road, which ensures comfort during long journeys.
Braking and Safety
Keeping safety in mind, GPX has added Dual-Channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) to this model. A 276 mm disc brake is used on the front wheel and a 220 mm disc on the rear wheel. Because of being Dual-Channel ABS, there is no fear of the wheels locking up during sudden braking or on wet roads. This braking setup is essential for a sports bike and is currently considered one of the best braking systems in the 165 cc segment in Bangladesh.
Electrical and Features/b>
This bike is quite modern in terms of electrical features. It has a full LED setup—the headlight, taillight, and turn indicators are all LED, providing sufficient light at night.
Digital Meter Console: The bike has a full digital instrument cluster. It includes a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, gear position indicator, RPM meter, and clock. Especially, its meter panel is equipped with 'Soft Touch' technology and increases the premium feel of the bike. A modern design key is used, which is also good from a security perspective.
