Honda Hornet 10000km riding experience shared by Ruhul Amin
Only by ignoring the matter of risk, Motorbike would have been the most magical and suitable transport media in the country like a middle class income level.
It is really amazing for me to mention that I am a man who grown up with the dream of having a motorcycle since my childhood as like a man does but somehow I forgot that dream but not for so long. When I switched to Dhaka and I have to wait for a long time more than hours to reached on the destination while on the bus, my dream again come my mind that it is the time I should follow what my intention says. So I purchased Hornet as my second bike of my life. As because I have the worst experience of my first bike both in performance and customer service and by considering this experience this time I chosen the most trusted one of the market “Honda” and made the first test ride. It is easy to understand a bikes seating position, control and breaking just by checking it for 5 times and I made by this test ride only why because, there is no need of cross checking with “Honda” as because my Father had ridden the same bike.

I purchased my Honda CB Hornet on 6th of June 2018 and it is still pretty light in my mind that the night I purchased my Hornet, no way I can sleep in that night. My right hand was somehow irritating in the way that I was pulling the Throttle. Next morning early at 5am I took my bike to have a test ride. Early because, I didn’t have any papers (Number, Bank slip) to show then.
By pulling the throttle continuously, it feels like I am already in Chandra so I didn’t look back right then. Just follow the way of Rajshahi. That tour was the distance of 580 kilometers (Dhaka – Rajshahi – Dhaka) the next matter that happened, I hardly can imagine. I have already ridden my fantastic machine around 10,000 kilometers and in this distance I have included almost the whole Bangladesh.
I am to share this long experience and my feelings which going to make you feel easy to made your decision.
Let me tell something key parts if the Hornet:
If a motorcycle does not has the exact comfort on the seating position or riding comfort then it is quite normal to brake ones concentration easily and anytime. From this point of view, I will mark Hornet by 80% marks. So far now I have ridden 580 kilometers at a stretch and 1300 kilometers at a tour in which I found my bike comfortable enough. You are not going to feel any tiredness or back pain with Hornet even after riding this one for long time.
I hope its Engine performance never going to change if its maintenance is maintained properly. Suddenly any problem, power loss, Over Engine temperature or anything like so, you are not going to have in Hornet.
I found the exact idea about the power of engine when I made tour on the Dim hill with a pillion on my back. Both me and my pillion is near about 170kg and 2 giant like us easily climbed up the hill of 3400 feet just by pulling the clutch half way and the most amazing part is, my bike didn’t even let me any lack in the performance. Once I thought I have to change the clutch plate but after that tour, I have ridden my bike 8000 kilometers even after touching the clutch plate of my bike.
Body and Chassis:
This is quite true that the plastics over its body are good at all in quality. This short of muscular bike no way match with such low quality plastics but its chassis make it up 100%. So far now, I hardly can sense any unexpected noise from my bike. Re heavy build chassis is supports so nicely even on the balancing.
Horn and Headlight:
The stock headlight and horn is going to support you nicely if you are city rider. On the other hand, if you are a traveler or extreme highway player then you must switch up the duel horn and headlight with powerful LED. Same time, off course change the AC mood.
Seating position off Hornet is very hard and it is no way comfortable for the pillion. To manage this, your partner has to adjust in a positive way.
The mileage of this bike is lower than the bike of the same segment. Right now I am having 32 – 35 kilometers per liter on the cities and 40 while on the highway where FZS V2 serve the mileage range 45 – 50 kilometers per liter.
Basically this bike does not have any vibration but if you cross the speed of 105 kilometers per hour then you are going to feel a lite vibration.
Those who are adjusted with FZ-S, you are going to found the similarity in the Hornet as well why because; this one is also very easy to take its control. I can ensure you that, just after riding this bike for 5 minutes, its “wow factor” will inspire you in the way that you will be inspired to make long ride with this one.
The sound this bike has is no way match with it but you are merely going to have any extra noise from the engine.
Switch, Chapa and Throttle:
These parts of this bike are made with so low quality that I can’t describe in words. Throttle is very thick so you have to feel unrest on the long ride. If you are not wearing hand gloves then you have to suffer a lot. On the other hand, after washing the bike switches don’t work like normal and its feel like water is falling from the switches. I have to face a few time while the horn become direct and make me puzzled.
Parts Price and Availability:
As the Honda’s parts are made in India so there is no question about the availability and those prices are reasonable. But the amazing matter is, I don’t have to change anything except the Air Filter and the Spark Plug after ridden my bike 10,000 kilometers.
Just to maintain the regular chain lube and engine oil, nothing extra ordinary is necessary for a Hornet user in my point of view. As chain lube I will mention Manol and as Engine oil Motul synthetic make me feel easy and free.
Honda’s after sales service is pretty nice but not enough in number as it needed. A huge gathering always in the servicing center. But I will suggest you to take your bike to the local mechanic if the problem is not anything like major one.
By considering this one overall, this one is the best value for money. You can use this one roughly for a long time without thinking seriously. I will recommend this one for those who love to made extreme travel and also to those whose budget is limited inside the 2 lacks then you don’t have to think anything except Hornet. At the last, I have say by joining my voice with others that “Honda is Honda”.
