Best Engine Oil Grade For Summer

Bangladesh is a warm weather country where summer stands for 7 months, so there are some rules for using engine oil, so that your bike provides better performance.

• Engine oil grade is named by 4 digit number including a W between them. For an example: 10W40, 10W30, 20W50, and W stand for winter here. As we all know that, oil viscosity doesn’t remain the same at different weather condition.

• excessive heat makes oil thinner and lubricant loses its own viscosity and can’t lubricate the engine, and during winter engine oil gets thicker and oil can’t work properly and increase friction between engine particles you should consider changing the engine oil grade during regarding different seasons, as like 20W40 can be replace by 10W40, in fact some case can be solve by changing the grade after W, like 10W40 can replace by 10W50.

• You can lower the value of number before W and higher the value of number after W, but only in cases where your bike has completed run more than 50,000 kilometers it can solve heating issue in some cases. If your bike is getting old and ran more than 50,000 kilometers, and engine drains comparatively less oil lubricants after been flashed out.

• Engine gets stuck with overheating issue, after a long period of use. There is a gap between cylinder and piston, some time oil get licked through the gap that’s why you get less oil after drain. You can replace the oil grade which is mentioned in the user manual in to a thicker grade oil like 10W40 can be replaced by 10W50, then oil leakage issue will be solved and get better performance.

• But don’t do this on a new bike, always maintain the recommended grade if your bike is new and there is no problem in your bike. Air cooled bikes gets overheat after long run, because there is no other cooling system in bike, only air flows cool down the engine. If you riding in higher speed constantly in warm weather, your bike doesn’t get proper air to cool down the engine then you get overheat issue, take a 10-15 minute break after a long ride of 50 kilometers.
