Uses of Engine Oil During Break-In-Period

Break-in-period is maintenance of some rules for a new bike during a certain kilometer. You have to maintain a RPM and speed limit during this period do not ride with pillion and don’t rev over 4000 RPM. But there is also maintenance for engine oil also. Today we will discuss about use of engine oil during break in period.

• A new engine surface is not smooth at all; it’s rough and not free from inside, rough surface mix with engine oil and comes with oil drain.

• If your bike has stayed more than 1 month in the showroom then change the engine oil immediately.


• Change the engine oil at 300 kilometers, do not use more than 500 kilometers.

• Drain the first oil between 300-500 kilometers, then next drain within 500 kilometers, break-in-period is almost 2000 kilometers, use 4/5 oil in this period.


• Those bikes have a oil filter inside, change the filter in every drain, because rough surface from engine and old oil stay in the filter, if you do not change it, then new engine oil will be polluted.

• Always use mineral engine oil during break-in-period, because in this time you have to change more than 4 times, mineral engine oil has a short drain period and cost less than any other engine oil.
