Baby Harley: When QJ Motor’s Precision Meets Harley-Davidson’s Legacy

The joint venture between China's prominent motorcycle manufacturer QJ Motor and America's legendary brand Harley-Davidson is ushering in a new chapter in the motorcycle industry. The combined technology and brand quality of these two companies promise to bring innovation to the market. This collaboration between two brands from different continents and cultures will provide motorcycle enthusiasts with a unique experience.



The world-renowned, U.S.-based motorcycle brand Harley-Davidson is typically famous for its large engines, heavy structure, deep exhaust sound, and stylish retro designs. This traditional American motorcycle brand is now stepping away from its classic 'large engine' style and venturing into the low and mid-displacement segments. At the core of this transformation lies its partnership with the Chinese company QJ Motor.


In 2019, the partnership between Harley-Davidson and QJ Motor was established primarily to expand their motorcycles in the Asian market. As a result, a new model known as the 'Baby Harley' (338R) was developed. This motorcycle, crafted with modern technology and classic styling, is primarily designed for beginner riders who are attracted to Harley-Davidson but cannot afford the full-sized larger models.

The engineering and production responsibilities for this motorcycle have been taken on by QJ Motor, which has already earned worldwide acclaim for its technological excellence and cost-efficient manufacturing. Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson is responsible for the design and branding of the model, ensuring the preservation of their iconic look and heritage. This joint venture did not stop at creating just one motorcycle model; in 2023, two more models, the X350 and X500, were launched in the market. The X350 is a modern naked bike equipped with a 353cc engine capable of producing approximately 36 horsepower. It features a USD front fork, dual disc brakes, an ABS system, and a fully digital cluster, making it appealing for urban and medium-distance rides.


On the other hand, the X500 is a robust mid-weight bike equipped with a 500cc engine similar to the Benelli Leoncino 500. It features a tubular frame, advanced suspension, and comfortable touring geometry, making it ideal for long-distance riders.
