In my view, motorbikes are not only vehicle, they are someone’s dream and to some people they are love, in general it is an emotion. For decades I am riding bikes and love to roam different places with it. Due to my passion, love and need my enthusiasm about motorcycles upsurges progressively. To match with the trend people changes their stuffs and so do I. as I said before, I love bikes, which is why I am using bikes since a long time, so I decided to change my taste this time and bought the new Yamaha XSR 155.

Why Yamaha XSR 155?

Yamaha XSR 155 is basically a type of Scrambler category. That refers to more of a dirt bike combines with a café racer features. Similar category products in Bangladeshi market are offered by Honda and Zontes. Honda CB Exmotion is the best compare to XSR 155. I like to prefer premium brands and on that note, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda seems to be topping the list. However, Suzuki doesn’t have this scrambler type bike in their line up and there were two big reason for me to choose Yamaha XSR 155 instead of Honda CB Exmotion. First one, Yamaha (ACI Motors) officially launched this bike, so there is now worries about the past availability and servicing. Most importantly, I like the design and appearance of Yamaha XSR 155. Wherever I go people gives attention to my bike, and so far I have ridden around 4000-kilometers.

Previously, I have used CBU conditioned bikes the most. For this time I wanted to ride indo/ Thai version bikes, though I would prefer Thai version between these two. After I saw the Thai version of XSR, I didn’t wasted any further and bought the master-piece.

Positives about Yamaha XSR 155:

-Yamaha XSR 155 comes with more of a good sides than the drawbacks, and that is the main reason I picked this bike. Among the good sides, first thing that has caught my eyes is the look and design. I really like the eye catching scrambler look. Another good thing about this bike is the comfort, most of the time I go for long rides with this bike and this new XSR 155 gives tremendous support while I go for long journeys. The dual purpose tyres gives me best support, specially the rear one. If you look down closely at your rear section, you will find out the impact of rear tyres, how it can change the overall impression of your bikes performance and looks as well. Most of the bike contains 100 section tyres at the front, but Yamaha XSR 155 has 110 section front tyres, which gives me excellent performance at different terms.

-Most remarkable good side of this new XSR-155 is the headlamp. Really amazing! Truly amazing! Before this bike I have had many sort of motorcycles, but I never experienced this type of powerful headlamp power. Even if a bigger vehicle flashes the high beam in front of you, you can easily have clear vision.

- Yamaha XSR 155 truly offers excellent controlling. I have used ABS bikes, but this bike doesn’t have ABS, actually it doesn’t matters that much. Premium quality brakes fills my braking needs and enhances my bike braking ability. I have travelled 2100 kilometers with this bike and didn’t feel that this bike has any skidding or less effective braking at any condition.

-Tail lamp of Yamaha XSR is unique and beautiful. It looks beautiful in both night and day terms. Slipper clutch seems to be an excellent & effective feature. The clutch leaver operations can be controlled easily through this slipper assist clutch. Those biker who already know about slipper clutch can easily understand this matter.

-My XSR 155 is a Thai version, and for this reason it has a premium build quality. One of my friend has indo version of Yamaha XSR 155, we both have shared rides with each other and we have felt the difference. I am not saying the Indo version is less acceptable than the Thai model, but the build quality and ready pickup response is much better at the Thai edition.

Negatives about Yamaha XSR 155:

-Every bike comes with both positive and negatives. Same goes for my XSR 155. I didn’t like the handlebar of Yamaha XSR 155, especially it is my opinion, because I don’t feel comfortable with it. This bikes handlebar seems to be leaning little towards. I fixed this by own need.

-The seating position is little bit thinner. It is not that much harder to sit on but, reedy. I am not comfortable with the seating, though it is my personal opinion. It is not only thin, but also smaller in length, thus the pillion also feel discomfort to sit on.

-While you ride at high speed the wind become a bi disturbance, though the build structure of this bike is not like sports to cut down the airflow with the aerodynamics, so we have to ride with this structure of XSR 155.

-Yamaha XSR 155 has good acceleration, but it is short of instant acceleration. As far as we know, this bike also contains the engine like MT, or R15 series, so the torque should be like them as well. At the 1st gear it doesn’t have that much power, at the 2nd and 3rd gear the torque increases, respectively.

A few more advantages of Yamaha XSR 155:

I am really satisfied with the mileage of Yamaha XSR 155. I have tested twice the mileage and I am satisfied. At the long journeys I got 46-48 KM/L mileage and at the city roads it offered me 40-45 KM/L.

I don’t like speeding that much, so I didn’t tested the top speed. Once I was left behind by others while in a long ride, so I accelerated my bike and the meter showed 120 KM/H speed on that time. I think it will easily cross 130 KM/H speed. I think this bike is suitable for long journeys and if the seating position is compatible with you than you will enjoy the ride. I have travelled 600 kilometers in a row with my XSR 155.

Things I have changed at my Yamaha XSR 155:

- The front brake pad.
- A lot of dirt from the front tires used to swallow into the body of the engine and to my feet, so I placed a tire guard.
- The double stand was not with the bike, I later attached it.
- I have installed a radiator and silencer guard.

On the whole, I really like the Yamaha XSR 155. It seems to be a well-combined bike of excellent features and performance.

Thank you everyone for reading with patience.
