The influence of Japanese motorcycle brands has long been strongly felt among motorcycle manufacturers in Bangladesh. High-quality Japanese brands, including the popular Yamaha, consistently supply their bikes to our market. Yamaha is well-regarded for all its categories, particularly its 150cc motorcycles, such as the FZ-S, which is immensely popular in a country like Bangladesh. However, the brand has now established a powerful presence in the premium naked sports 250cc segment with the arrival of the Yamaha FZ 25.
Yamaha launched the FZ 25 in 2017 as a larger, more potent model within their well-known FZ naked sports series. It quickly became recognized as the most powerful bike in the FZ lineage. Though initially introduced in India in January 2017, the FZ 25 gained significant popularity in Bangladesh and is currently available here. The FZ series is famous for its aggressive naked aesthetics and robust performance, which only continues to improve. Let’s dive into the specifications and special features of this bike.
Body Design and Dimensions
As we started, the FZ 25 is presented as a muscular street fighter version of the FZ series. The aggressive and sporty look is maintained in this new version, complemented by some notable modern updates. These include the bi-functional LED headlamp, a sculpted and muscular fuel tank, a split seat design, a negative LCD instrument cluster, and a stylish silencer. For better feedback and handling, the bike has a ground clearance of 160 mm and a wheelbase of 1360 mm. Overall, the FZ 25 has been made much more modern and appealing than its older siblings.
The bike's dimensions stand at 2015 mm in length, 775 mm in width, and 1075 mm in height, with a kerb weight of 153 kg. The muscular tank has a substantial fuel capacity of 14 liters.
Engine
The FZ 25 is powered by a 249cc engine featuring Blue-Core technology. It's a 4-stroke single-cylinder, oil-cooled SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) unit with Fuel Injection (FI). The engine can generate 20.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and a torque of 20.1 Nm at 6000 RPM. Blue-Core is Yamaha’s next-generation engine technology that significantly reduces fuel consumption while ensuring excellent performance. The bike is equipped with a 5-speed transmission and a multi-plate clutch system.
Brakes, Suspension, and Tyres
Comfort and safety are vital aspects of riding, and Yamaha consistently prioritizes both. The Yamaha FZ 25 features a 282 mm disc brake on the front wheel and a 220 mm disc brake on the rear wheel. Critically, it comes standard with Dual Channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), providing superb and secure braking. The front suspension is a high-quality telescopic fork, and the rear uses a 7-step adjustable Monoshock suspension. This setup allows the rider to have a very comfortable ride.
Regarding the tyres, the front is a 100/80-17 section tyre, and the rear is a 140/70-17 section tyre. Both are expected to deliver reliable grip and performance on Bangladeshi roads.
Instrument Panel and Electrical
The motorcycle is fitted with a fully digital instrument console, which features a digital speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, and fuel gauge, all displayed on a negative LCD display. It also includes indicators for low fuel, oil, and battery. The 12-volt electrical system supports electric starting and uses a maintenance-free battery. The headlamp utilizes modern technology: a bi-functional LED headlamp, complemented by an LED tail lamp and LED turn lights.
Furthermore, the bike incorporates the modern safety feature known as AHO (Automatic Headlamp On). With this technology, the headlamp illuminates as soon as the engine is started and there is no manual on/off switch. The headlamp remains lit as long as the engine is running. AHO serves as an important safety feature, especially in foggy and dark conditions.
Final Words
The Yamaha FZ 25 is available in attractive colors like Metallic Black, Racing Blue, and Dark Matte Blue. Considering all its features, it's clear that the FZ 25 utilizes the latest technology, promising better mileage and stronger performance compared to the older FZ models.
