ENI is an Italian multinational energy company. It is one of the world's largest 'supermajor' oil companies. Being such a huge company, ENI also does various types of social responsibility work beyond its corporate work. As a part of this, the company has launched the ENI Award.
Scientific innovations massively impact the global energy sector. The ENI awards were started in 2008. From the very beginning, the ENI Awards have been more than just a corporate award. It holds a great deal of prestige in the energy sector in terms of applied research and technological innovation.
The ENI award is decided by Judges who have won Nobel Prizes. The Awards' Scientific Committee, which evaluates applications and awards prizes, is comprised of scientists from the world's leading research institutions. Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1987, and previously Robert Richardson, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1996, and the late Sir Harold Kroto, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996, are among its members.
Sections:
The ENI Award has several sections. The main three sections are:
1.

Energy Frontiers
2. Advanced Environmental Solutions
3. Energy Transition
A few more other subcategories are also created at times, such as the Young Researcher of the Year award, Research Debut—Young Talents from Africa, and Eni Innovation Awards (for ENI employees).
Eni Joule for Entrepreneurship Award, a prize established by Eni's Italian business school Joule, complements the Eni Award in fostering the implementation, enhancement, and transfer of technologies in the field of energy transition. The award seeks to promote innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship in the fields of process and product decarbonization, circular economy, and climate change mitigation to contribute to Italy's social and economic development.
