Michelin is a French multinational tyre manufacturing company based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région of France. It is the second largest tyre manufacturer in the world behind Bridgestone and larger than both Goodyear and Continental. With 9 R&D centers around the world, 123 production sites in 26 countries, a commercial presence in 170 countries and 125,000 employees worldwide, the Michelin Group is now present on every continent.
The main motive of Michelin tyres is to offer everyone a better way forward, which is also the backbone of Michelin’s purpose. Then Michelin Tire Company was incorporated on 28 May 1889. The first production of Michelin brothers’ tires wasn't glued to the rim rather it was the easily removable and detachable type. Accordingly, in 1891 Michelin registered its first patent for a removable pneumatic tire. Later the tire was used by the professional cycle racer Charles Terront and he won the world's first long-distance cycle race, the 1891 Paris–Brest–Paris. Thus Michelin was established in tire manufacturing.
Michelin tires are manufactured by Michelin in its own manufacturing facilities located in different countries in the world.
In Bangladesh, Michelin has no production facility of tires, the available Michelin tires are imported from various distribution points of Michelin. Michelin tires are imported and marketed by Rayhan Motors Limited
