CEAT was founded as CaviElettrici e Affini Torino (Electrical Cables and Allied Products of Turin) by VirginioBruniTedeschi in 1924, in Turin, Italy. In 1982, RPG Group acquired the company, and in 1990, the company was renamed as CEAT.Though CEAT is a company which origin is Italy but its headquarter and most of the production help in India which is established in 1958 and its head-quarter is in Mumbai. In 1993, the company collaborated with Yokohama Rubber Company, to manufacture radial tyres at their Nashik unit. In 1999, CEAT formed a joint-venture, named as CEAT Kelani, with Asia MotorWorks and Kelani Tyres, to manufacture and market CEAT tyres in Sri Lanka. in 2006, CEAT Kelani commissioned their first Sri Lanka-based radial-tyre manufacturing unit in Kalutara. Nowadays, CEAT is available.
CEAT manufactures tyresfor various types of vehicles like heavy commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicle, off-highway tyres, passenger cars, tractors, motorcycles and scooters, cycles and SUVs. It exports Asia.In terms of Bangladesh, CEAT is a joint venture company of CEAT Ltd (India) and A.K. KHAN Co. Ltd. (Bangladesh). They are setting up a state of the art tyre manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. It is the largest investment, in manufacturing sector, by any Indian company in Bangladesh with an investment value of BDT 424 Cr. Presently they have a strong presence in Bangladesh market with four regional offices in Dhaka, Chattogram, Bogura and Jashore.
