Bridgestone Corporation is a multinational auto and truck parts manufacturer founded in 1931 in Japan, by Shojiro Ishibashi (1889–1976) in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. The name Bridgestone comes from a calque translation and transposition of ishibashi, meaning 'stone bridge' in Japanese.
As of 2021, Bridgestone is the largest manufacturer of tires in the world, followed by Michelin in France, Goodyear in the United States, MRF in India, Continental in Germany and Pirelli in Italy. In 1942, Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd was renamed to Nippon Tire Co., Ltd, but after a decade in 1951 Company name reverts to Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd.; company flag established. At the year 1997, this company entered in Formula 1 racing and they stepped into a new stage. Within one year they tasted the success, in 98 In Bridgestone's second year of participation in Formula 1 racing, the McLaren racing team's Mika Häkkinen wins the Japanese Grand Prix, the final Formula 1 Grand Prix race, the first time a car running on Bridgestone tires wins both the driver's and constructor's titles. One after another milestones were grabbed by this company and the latest of their achievement occurred in 2019, Bridgestone acquired Europe’s largest digital fleet solutions provider, TomTom Telematics (currently Webfleet Solutions).
